This week :
How did someone earn one ? First, please the broad pantheon of gods by burnt offering or a glass of RC Cola. Second, gather tokens of good luck and good fortune. Third, roll a natural 20.
How frequently were they awarded ? I would like to say that it happened to each of us once, over the 16-19 levels we passed in E.G.’s campaign that used this level-up device. That may just be wishful revisionist history (or historical revisionism; whichever of the two is the non-propagandist one).
What’s best about this card ? An ever-present reminder of the sheer satisfaction of it all. A natural 20 to cement the fact you’d be editing new level details into your character sheet some time in the coming week, before the next game session.
The “Cards” series of posts recalls the special “trophy” business-cards awarded to players during E.G.’s original D&D v.3.5 game several years ago. This is a weekly post.
